The story
The Barn Quilt block is best viewed from the Nairn Road, while heading northward from the Nairn Road/Petty Street intersection, and will be visible on your right, as you approach a sharp curve in this road.
The “Virginia Star” quilt design at this location, is in recognition of the queen-sized “Virginia Star” quilt, hand-made by Orpha Sykes (Granny) in 1982, and given to Rose and Clyde Walton, as a wedding gift at that time. The actual quilt is on display in the Walton`s living room, with the three shades of blue (Clyde`s favorite colour), providing a focal point for this soothing space.
