The story

Warm sunny summers of lawn cutting, baling, picking stones, and endless loads of firewood for the winter. Pigs, puppies, kittens, chickens, even a donkey at one point. These are just some of the memories I have from growing up on a Huron County farm. Gardens filled with fresh produce, potatoes, beans, beets and carrots to go in the freezer. Picking pears, peaches, strawberries and apples to be canned for the cellar. All of these chores combined made for a successful farm life. Everyone pitched in, and everyone benefited from the hard work. While not always “fun” it was good just the same. Leaving our family farm in 1990 was difficult to say the least, but necessary none the less. Keeping our connections with neighbors through the years has kept the memories in tact. A barn quilt of bright sunny colours represents my happy thoughts of life on the farm.
