The story

In 1914, Linwood and Rebecca Amos purchased property in McGillivray Twp. from the Pierce family. Living so close to the Methodist church at Brinsley, many social events were held on their lawn. On this farm they raised their family of ten children. In 1950, Joseph, one of their sons and his wife, Martha moved to this farm and raised their family of three children.

In 1984, Allen, a son of Joseph and his wife, Jean moved here and raised five children. Over the years, the barn has been home to horses, pigs and cattle-both dairy and beef. In addition, Allen and Jean raised chickens and hens. In the 1990`s they started feeding veal and raised 300 calves.

Over the years, the extended Amos family farmed the land themselves but currently rent it out.

By choosing this quilt design, the Amos family hope that this star will shine brightly upon their own family, as well as upon the surrounding community!
