The story

John ( Jack) Stewart emigrated to Canada from Scotland via the USA in 1841.  With Maria, his American wife, he purchased a Canada Land Grant acreage, which he cleared over time. To accommodate his growing family of 14 children, he built first one log home and then another before constructing, in 1868, the current brick house on a hill. The homestead became known locally as the “Jack O’ The Hill Homestead”. This farm has remained in the Stewart family, the current owners being the 5th generation and proud to display the “Scottish Thistle”.
