Basket Weave
The story
Basket Weave – Before there were big box stores, pharmacies and druggists, there was an incredible variety of local plants and trees. The First Nations used the surrounding forest and tall grass prairies for enrichment and even survival. The black ash tree was the wood of choice for basket making. Sharing their skills and knowledge of these treasures, the First Nations eased the hardships of pioneer life. The Basket Weave barn quilt symbolizes the art that was taught to the Pioneer Women.
