Farmer’s Daughter
The story
Melanie Pletch chose the quilt patten, Farmers Daughter as a tribute to her parents, Murray and Wilma Scott, and to the legacy that they created that she is now in possession of. The 4 diamonds that surround Farmers daughter represent Melanie’s 4 children, Scott,Meagan,Ben and Amelia. This 200 acre farm has been in the Scott Family since 1857 when David Scott (Murray’s great uncle) settled on this farm in East Wawanosh township, from the Scotch Block in Esquesing township, Halton County. Murray and Wilma farmed this land for over 40 years and have been excellent stewards of the land and their wood lot. They retired in 2011 and Melanie purchased the farm. Murray passed away in April 2017. In this 150th year of both Canada and East Wawanosh , this “farmers daughter” honours her roots and looks forward to preserving the legacy for future generations.
