The story

This farm, Lot 5, Concession 11 was purchased by Douglas and Donelda Lewis in 1961.  Doug’s ancestors originated from Tipperary, Ireland, with the first settlers arriving in Canada in 1828.

Doug and Donelda had six children, Jacqueline, Daniel, Debra, Barbara, Vicki, and Kevin.  Kevin married Rita Timmermans in 1984 and they purchased the farm from Doug and Donelda in 1989.  Kevin and Rita raised their two children, Jamie and Jenna on this farm.

Kevin and Rita chose the barn quilt “Garden Beauty” for several reasons.  The green is meant to represent the Lewis Irish roots.  It also signifies what is most important to us, love and life.   Green is a

vibrant, rich colour which surrounds us daily through our crops in the

fields, the trees, grass, and plants.  And the four hearts represent

our strong love for our family.
