Log Cabin

This barn quilt represents the Battle of Nanticoke, which took place Nov. 13, 1813. The log cabin design signifies the cabin of John Dunham, where the Norfolk volunteer militia routed a band of American marauders who had been pillaging area farms and terrorizing the countryside. This exploit inspired the British military forces and the people of Upper Canada during the War of 1812.
