Osterhaut-Henry House & barns c1860

Samuel Osterhaut inherited this farm property from his father in 1854 and lived there for twenty-six years. Several other families have own the property since the Osterhauts sold it.  To the rear of the house is one of the County’s most intriguing barn complexes.  The main gambrel-roofed barn runs parallel to the road, and projecting from it, forming a U-shaped barnyard are two smaller wings.  The octagonal cupola vent is also a notable detail. Today Mark & Lynne Henry own the complex which includes a B&B, a renovated barn which is used for weddings, theatre, music and other community venues.  The complex also includes a Floral Design Shop, beautiful gardens., and of  course apple orchards on which  their “County Apples” barn quilt was based.  Lynne’s grandmother made the quilt , that was recreated in paint for their second barn quilt.  Check out their website at Fields on Westlake
